Alabama CE Requirements

Dentist
- 20 hours of Continuing Education Annually
- Mandatory: At least 10 hours in-person
- Mandatory: 4 hours CPR (Basic or Advanced Level – every 2years) In-person only
- Mandatory: 1 hour Infection Control – every 2 years
- Mandatory: 1 hour Prescribing Controlled Substances – every 2 years
- Mandatory: OCS only – 2 hours of sedation and/or anesthesia every 2 years
- Maximum 4 hours insurance, government regs, and tort liability and/or risk management annually
- Max 3 hours of practice management annually
- Half of all CEs must be attributed to practice of dentistry.
- NEW: October 1 – Mandatory: 1 hour per year of ethical considerations in the practice of dentistry
Dental Hygienist
- 12 hours of Continuing Education Annually
- Mandatory: At least 6 hours in-person
- Mandatory: 2 hours CPR (Basic Support Level – every 2 years) In-person only
- Mandatory: 1 hour Infection Control – every 2 years
- Maximum 4 hours insurance, government regs, and tort liability and/or risk management annually
- Max 3 hours of practice management annually
- Half of all CEs must be attributed to practice of dental hygiene.
- New: October 1 – Mandatory: 1 hour per year of ethical considerations in the practice of dental hygiene
