Indiana CE Requirements Verbiage

License Period: 2 years
Dentist
- Dentists are required to complete at least 20 hours of CE in total. Half of these CE hours must be live. Online courses can be considered live if there is real-time interaction between the instructor and participants.
- 1. Basic CE requirements:
- 1. Indiana Ethics, Professional Responsibility & Jurisprudence: 2 credit hours.
- 2. Practice Management: Not required, but a maximum of 5 credit hours can be applied in this category.
- 3. Annual HIPAA Training: Required as a Federal mandate (no specific amount of hours).
- 4. Opioid Prescribing & Abuse: 2 credit hours for all dentists with a CSR license.
- 5. Annual OSHA/Infection Control Training: Required as a Federal mandate (no specific number of hours).
- 6. Basic Life Support Certification: Required.
- A. All continuing education courses must be approved by the Indiana State Board of Dentistry (ISBD) to apply toward licensure credits.
- B. Approved CE providers include ADA, IDA, and local components.
- C. Dentists receive one CE hour for each state or national meeting attended.
- D. Lecture credits are issued at a rate of one hour for every one hour of attendance.
- E. Workshop credits are issued at a rate of two hours for every one hour of participation.
Dental Hygienist
